Description
The DCEO Engineer in AWS Data Center Engineering Operations will be based in Jakarta and will contribute directly to the design, planning, delivery, and ongoing operation of Amazon Web Services’ global infrastructure. This position sits within the broader AWS Infrastructure Services team, whose mandate is to ensure that the cloud platform remains reliable, scalable, and efficient for millions of customers worldwide.
Role Overview
In this role the engineer will participate in end‑to‑end engineering activities that keep AWS data centers running smoothly, from initial design concepts through to day‑to‑day operational support. The position offers exposure to cutting‑edge technologies that power cloud services used across diverse industries.
Primary Responsibilities
- Design and implement infrastructure solutions that meet stringent performance, safety, and sustainability standards.
- Plan capacity and resource allocation to support growing compute and storage demands.
- Execute deployment and commissioning of hardware and software components across multiple data‑center sites.
- Monitor system health, performance metrics, and incident response to maintain high availability.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams of engineers, architects, and operations staff to resolve technical challenges.
- Document engineering processes, procedures, and best practices to support knowledge sharing.
Technical Scope
- Work with advanced power distribution, cooling, and rack‑management systems to optimise energy efficiency.
- Engage with networking and storage architectures that underpin AWS’s high‑speed interconnects.
- Apply automation and scripting techniques to streamline repetitive operational tasks.
- Support capacity‑planning models that forecast future infrastructure requirements.
Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical, or systems engineering, or a closely related field.
- 3‑5 years of hands‑on experience in data‑center operations, including hardware installation, troubleshooting, or system integration.
- Strong understanding of power management, HVAC, and environmental controls within data‑center environments.
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell for automation tasks.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams and communicate technical concepts clearly.
Preferred Experience
- Direct involvement with large‑scale infrastructure projects at a major cloud provider or enterprise‑scale data‑center operator.
- Familiarity with industry‑standard frameworks for reliability, such as IEC 60870 or similar.
- Experience in sustainability initiatives, including energy‑efficient design and carbon‑footprint reduction.
