The Animal & Veterinary Service (AVS), a cluster within the National Parks Board (NParks), is dedicated to safeguarding the health and welfare of animals through comprehensive and integrated programmes. This role offers a unique opportunity to lead and manage wildlife management and outreach initiatives within Singapore's national parks and reserves.
About the Role
You will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing strategic wildlife management plans and outreach programmes. This involves leading a team, fostering partnerships with relevant stakeholders, and ensuring the effective delivery of conservation and education efforts focused on native wildlife species.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute strategic plans for wildlife management and community outreach programmes.
- Lead and manage a team of professionals in wildlife conservation, research, and public engagement activities.
- Collaborate with internal and external partners, including government agencies, NGOs, and academic institutions, to advance wildlife conservation goals.
- Design and implement educational initiatives to raise public awareness and promote responsible wildlife interaction.
- Monitor wildlife populations and habitats, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and best practices.
- Prepare reports, proposals, and presentations to communicate programme progress and strategic direction.
Requirements
- A bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as wildlife biology, ecology, conservation science, veterinary science, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of progressively responsible experience in wildlife management, conservation, or a related field, with demonstrated leadership in programme development and team management.
- Proven experience in developing and implementing successful wildlife conservation and public outreach initiatives.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills to effectively engage with diverse stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment, with a commitment to conservation and public service.
- Knowledge of Singapore's biodiversity and relevant conservation policies and regulations.
