The Manager, Estates (Facilities Operations) position at the Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT) is a pivotal role within the Estates Division, focused on ensuring the efficient and effective management of the institute's physical infrastructure and operational facilities. This fixed-term role reports to the Estates Division Head and plays a critical part in maintaining a safe, functional, and conducive environment for students, faculty, and staff across SIT's Singapore campus. About the Role
This role involves comprehensive oversight of the Estates Division's Facilities Operations function. The Manager will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing all aspects of daily facility management, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and operational standards. Key areas include managing maintenance contracts, overseeing building services (such as HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems), coordinating cleaning and security services, and implementing strategies to optimize facility utilization and reduce operational costs. The position requires strong leadership to manage a team and foster a culture of continuous improvement within the Estates Division.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct the daily operations and maintenance activities of the institute's facilities, ensuring timely resolution of issues and adherence to service level agreements.
- Develop and implement operational plans, budgets, and strategies for facility management, focusing on efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and sustainability.
- Manage and coordinate maintenance contracts, vendor relationships, and procurement processes for facility-related services and supplies.
- Oversee building services, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, and general building upkeep, to maintain a safe and functional environment.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant safety, health, and environmental regulations and standards across all facilities.
- Lead, mentor, and develop the Estates Division's Facilities Operations team, fostering teamwork and professional growth.
- Collaborate with other divisions (e.g., Academic, Student Affairs) to understand facility needs and support campus-wide initiatives.
Requirements
- A bachelor's degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in facilities management, operations, or a similar role, with at least 2 years in a managerial capacity.
- Proven track record in managing building operations, maintenance, and facility services in a corporate or institutional setting.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage teams, delegate effectively, and drive operational excellence.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with internal stakeholders and external vendors.
- Knowledge of facility management best practices, building systems, and relevant safety regulations.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and make sound decisions under pressure.
