Coating Advisor

About the Role

The Coating Advisor will serve as a key technical resource, providing expert guidance and support to customers on the selection, application, and performance of Hempel's protective coating systems. This position involves building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, understanding their specific coating challenges, and recommending tailored solutions that meet their operational and environmental requirements. The role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to upholding Hempel's reputation for quality and innovation.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as the primary technical contact for assigned customer accounts, offering expert advice on coating selection, application techniques, and troubleshooting.
• Conduct site visits and assessments to understand customer needs and provide customized coating recommendations.
• Support the sales team by preparing technical proposals, specifications, and presentations for coating projects.
• Stay abreast of industry trends, competitor products, and emerging coating technologies to ensure recommendations remain current and competitive.
• Collaborate with internal technical teams and suppliers to resolve complex coating issues and optimize product performance.
• Ensure all customer interactions and technical support adhere to Hempel's quality standards and safety protocols.

Requirements

• Minimum Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related technical field.
• Proven experience (typically 2+ years) in the protective coatings industry, preferably within industrial or marine sectors.
• Strong technical knowledge of coating systems, application methods, and performance characteristics.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly to diverse audiences.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple customer relationships effectively.
• Proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to continuous learning.
