The successful candidate will play a vital role in creating accurate and informative cartographic products that meet the needs of our clients and stakeholders. ## About the Role The Cartography Specialist (GIS) will be responsible for the design, creation, and maintenance of detailed maps and geospatial data visualizations. This position requires a strong understanding of geographic information systems (GIS) software and cartographic principles to transform complex spatial data into clear, actionable visual representations. You will collaborate with project teams to ensure maps are both technically sound and visually effective. ## Key Responsibilities * Develop and produce high-quality cartographic products, including maps, charts, and diagrams, using GIS software and design principles. * Collect, manage, and analyze geographic data from various sources to support mapping projects. * Create and maintain accurate spatial databases and GIS layers. * Apply cartographic techniques to represent geographic features and data relationships clearly and effectively. * Collaborate with analysts, engineers, and other specialists to understand project requirements and deliver appropriate mapping solutions. * Ensure all cartographic outputs adhere to established standards and quality guidelines. ## Requirements * Bachelor's degree in Geography, Cartography, GIS, Environmental Science, or a related field. * Proven experience (minimum 2 years) working as a Cartography Specialist or GIS Technician, with a focus on map creation and spatial data management. * Proficiency with GIS software packages (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS) and related mapping tools. * Strong skills in cartographic design, including layout, symbolization, and color theory. * Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data handling and map production. * Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a collaborative environment. * Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to learn new software and techniques quickly.
