Analyst - Senior Principal Analyst (MRD)

About the Role

You will be a key member of EMA's strategic planning and market development team, focusing on long-term market design and regulatory frameworks. Your expertise will be crucial in analyzing complex energy market dynamics, assessing the impact of climate policies, and providing evidence-based recommendations to support Singapore's transition to a low-carbon economy. This role demands a deep understanding of energy economics, market structures, and the technical and regulatory aspects of power systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct in-depth analysis of Singapore's energy market, including generation, transmission, distribution, and retail sectors, with a specific focus on decarbonization pathways and climate resilience.
• Develop and evaluate long-term market scenarios and policy options to support Singapore's greenhouse gas reduction targets and energy security objectives.
• Provide expert insights and strategic advice to senior management and policymakers on market design, regulatory frameworks, and investment priorities related to sustainable energy transitions.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders, industry partners, and international bodies to share knowledge and stay abreast of global best practices in energy market transformation.
• Prepare comprehensive reports, presentations, and policy briefs to communicate complex findings and recommendations effectively.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Economics, Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related quantitative field, with significant experience in energy market analysis or climate policy.
• Proven track record of 8+ years in senior-level energy market analysis, policy development, or climate change mitigation strategies, with demonstrated impact.
• Exceptional analytical skills, including proficiency in advanced statistical modeling, data analysis, and scenario planning techniques.
• Strong understanding of Singapore's energy market structure, regulatory environment, and the technical and economic challenges of decarbonizing the power sector.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to translate complex technical and economic concepts for diverse audiences.
